Hello:
Are you out there? Where are the web-enabled digital film makers and educators, willing to invest their time, and yes, if you have it, money, to help us put together the program known as Master Teachers by Satellite for Afghanistan? It will:
— create an educational experience two hours a day, six days a week, forty weeks a year, via satellite TV, for kids in Afghanistan who have NO schools, NO teachers (more than HALF of all the kids in the country)–
— offer daily lessons in literacy in Dari or in Pashto, the local languages, and health, elementary science, geography/ecology, and intro to technology —
— WILL COST ABOUT $30 PER YEAR PER KID, assuming that the small School-In-A-Box set of equipment needs to be fully replaced after three years, and after the cost of the filming or otherwise creating the content has been funded —
— and by emphasizing family values and the Islamic values of the moderate Muslim majority, will offer to children an alternative to Jihad.
Give us a call. We need film makers, fund raisers, translators, and organizers. We need you.
Sincerely,
Carol Ruth Silver
