Who is in control of the classroom? ‘Teachers: Technology is a tool, not a replacement. On a beautiful spring Friday, resisting the urge to skip class in favor of doing just about anything else looms large for many college students. In a way, it’s easier to cut classes these days, thanks to a number of technological innovations that make learning easier. But educators say nothing can replace the type of learning that occurs in the classroom. Many professors post class information, such as homework and lecture outlines, on the Internet. At Duke University, freshmen are given iPods so they may download a class lecture verbatim.’
